Digging out from under

October 29th, 2011

You know how sometimes you’re just buried under STUFF and you’re just surviving day to day, doing what needs being done the most, and then suddenly things lighten up and you poke your head up and blink at the surprising light that’s all around you and realize that there are tons of things you’ve been neglecting while you’ve been burrowing deep beneath the ground?

Like that?

So I’ve been neglecting this blog because so many other things in my life have been jumping up and down demanding my attention–some human, some animal (my 11-year-old son would now say to me with great exasperation, “humans ARE animals, Mom” but fortunately he doesn’t read my blog), some electronic (Facebook, mostly, which wins the battle over the blog as far as being fun and immediate) and some deadliney (another YA novel handed in–look for it next winter, folks).

But here I am!  How’s everyone doing?

What?  You say you’re a little bored?  Okay, then, fine.  Watch this interview I did with Adam Curry, who has an incredible resume (including being an MTV VJ back in the day) and who created the Big App Show for iPhones and Androids.  (Download it, it’s free, and you can see many cool authors being interviewed, including my friend W. Bruce Cameron–author of A DOG’S PURPOSE and EMORY’S GIFT–and Jennifer Egan, who wrote one of my favorite books of all time, A VISIT FROM THE GOON SQUAD). But you can also click right here and watch it online, if you prefer.  This is my favorite interview of all time because Adam actually READ BOTH OF MY RECENTLY PUBLISHED BOOKS so the conversation really flowed.  He even stumped me with a trivia question about my novels.  HE stumped ME.

More to come . . .  I’m going to maintain this blog more frequently.  For one thing, a lot more people are reading it than I realized.  What’s up with that?

Oh and one last note: I read every single comment and email you post or send me.  I try to respond to all of them but sometimes things fall through the cracks.  But I LOVE THEM ALL.  Thank you!

Oh and enjoy this photo of me in a shower cap.  Just because.

Remember, kids, nothing says "fashion" like a zebra-striped shower cap. Nothing.

Glad to see a new post! I enjoy the posts more than the facebook stuff, probably because I’ve been trying to stay away from the drama fb creates, so keep the posts coming!

On another note- man you are churning out the books! I don’t know how you do it. But I’m super happy about it!

Thanks, Rachel. I miss posting here–it’s the first thing that goes when I get busy, but I don’t know why–it’s not all that time-consuming. And I know what you mean about FB–sometimes I think about leaving it altogether. But it’s such a great way to waste time . . .

    Rockin’ the shower cap, Claire.

Zebra-striped shower caps are the BEST! Lets go ZEBRAS, lets go!
